Modern - Tiburon, CA

This landscape, on the bluffs of Tiburon, was exposed to both deer and wind. Rocky, serpentine soil, meant it was difficult for plants to thrive. In addition, as this was the entrance to the home, the landscape had to make an impact while seen from a passing car.

We selected dramatic grasses to dot the rocky hill. Well suited to the eco-system, these plants looked spectacular quivering in the gusts of wind that tumbled off the ocean. Along with updating the plants and pruning the overgrown trees, we transformed the parking area from an asphalt lane into a dramatic entrance to the house. The seasonal transformations of the hardy plants created an evolving landscape, intriguing at any speed.
